When I studied Graphic Communication @ Cal Poly SLO, I dove into every facet of design head-first.

I got my hands wet with ink on various types of presses, built my own die-cut shapes, hand-coded websites, and ultimately fell in love with UX/UI design after minoring in Psychology.

This type of creativity brought in the human element, producing a work that was living in the sense that it's always changing and improving – a challenge I've since fallen in love with. When I was a student, UX/UI didn't exist as a concentration yet. With my passion, persistence, and work with staff and students, UX/UI became a concentration for Graphic Communication students the year after I graduated.

In graduating, it was important for me to hone in on my graphic design and typography skills, prompting me to work at Williams Sonoma as an eCommerce designer. In that role, I became familiar with our back-end and CMS while working closely with marketing to develop and conceptualize campaigns for ads and email. After a year of working in email, I was given the opportunity to modernize our design system and overhaul our voice to customers. You can read more about this here.

As a small but powerful design team of three at Hippo, I’ve had the opportunity to lead end-to-end product design projects in addition to leading various visual design initiatives.

On the Product team, I worked with multiple product managers on lead growth initiatives, presenting directly to the c-suite. We also launched our first mobile app and I had the privilege of contributing to the app's mobile design system and structure, in addition to developing our core app interactions.

Working closely with multiple stakeholders and engineers on the marketing team, I created our email campaign design system twice – rebranding our existing system for a second version.
